KAKA SET TO LEAVE REAL
February 23, 2012
Brazilian star Kaka is all set to exit Real Madrid in the summer. His initial destination was expected to be Arsenal, but it seems that the Brazilian superstar has decided to join Chelsea instead. Kaka arrived at Real Madrid for around £ 56 million in the seasons ago from AC Milan. However, his career at Real Madrid has been beset by a number of injury problems, which has not helped him to become the first team regular. As a result, it is thought that Kaka would be interested in making a permanent move in the summer in order to secure first-team football before finishing his career back in Brazil.
One of the major problems suffered by Kaka after signing for Real Madrid was the knee. Even after recovering from all the knee problems suffered in the last few seasons, Kaka has not been a first choice regular in the mind of Real Madrid manager José Mourinho. Kaka was left out of the first team in the match against CSKA Moscow in the last 16 of the Champions League, which only compounded the rumours of an impending exit in the summer. Arsenal were reported to be one of the favourite destinations for Kaka until now, but Chelsea have emerged as the latest favourites for his signature.
It is thought that Real Madrid would demand at least around £ 30 million for the player, for whom they paid £ 56 million a few seasons ago. It would be interesting to see if Chelsea would be prepared to pay that kind of money for a 29-year-old player, who has a number of injury problems of late. However, the fact that Chelsea are clearly missing a playmaker who can create chances mean that it is more likely that Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas will convince Roman Abramovich to splash the cash.
